What is IPL Photorejuvenation?
A skin treatment using intense pulsed light laser to eliminate the effects of photoaging including fine lines, wrinkles, freckles, enlarged pores, thread veins spots and pigmentation.
Normally for the face and neck, but can also treat most parts of the body with ageing concerns.
How many treatments will I need?
This will depend on your skin concerns.
A typical course would consist of 4 - 6 treatments 2 - 4 weeks apart.
Reduction of wrinkles and enlarged pores will be more subtle and will require further treatments.
What to expect during your treatment
You will be required to complete and sign your initial consultation form on each visit to confirm any changes and any new medication you may be taking.
A cold gel is applied to all areas, this will help the laser to penetrate the skin and keep the skin cool.
You will feel a very intense warming up sensation with each flash of the laser.
Each treatment takes around one hour.
Once the treatment is complete, the gel will be removed with a cold compress reducing any heat still present in the skin.
What to expect after your treatment.
Immediately after treatment you will look as though you have moderate sunburn, your skin may feel warm and tighter than usual.
This will normally recover the same day with only a slight redness the following day.
Your skin may feel slightly sunburned for a couple of days after treatments.
We ask that you refrain from physical activities, swimming, steam rooms and saunas for 48 hours after treatment.
Please avoid any sun exposure for the duration of your course.
You must wear SPF50 on all areas treated that may be exposed to daylight to prevent any further side effects.
You can cool the skin using cold compresses and lenitive moisturisers.
Your may experience a darkening and drying to pigmented areas.
Please allow natural desquamation/exfoliation.
You should see a significant improvement to pigmentation and thread veins within 7 - 10 days.
We recommend a periodic visit to assess your skin until you have reach your desired effect.
